It is not a full-sized laptop, so not almost as heavy and does not take up the space like a laptop. It fits easily into my shoulder bag (no need for a separate computer bag). It's quick using the Intel Core 2 Solo processor and 2GB of RAM. The 250GB hard-drive is much more than sufficient for storage. The screen on this netbook is 11.6 inches which is about 1.5 inches larger than most netbooks. Three USB ports are enough for most applications.
You can plug a USB powered DVD drive into two, leaving one for your mouse or flash drive or printer. Battery life appears great and also the battery indicator is extremely useful (it really gives you percent of power AND an estimate of time left prior to you run out of juice). The only problem I've is discovering a sleeve for it at nearby pc stores (larger screen size). All about I'm extremely satisfied and I adore the red color too. I've suggested it to friends already.
This is an after-the-fact review since this is not in stock anymore and may not be again. I bought this Gateway 11.6" netbook last Christmas for my son but I use it as often as he does. I was able to get this very cheaply using the dogged Windows Vista; I chosen this because it came having a free Windows 7 upgrade when it was release a couple of months later. During the upgrade, I got rid of all of the junk-ware that came pre-installed, and now it's a screamer. The biggest surprise to me is its blazing BLAZING blazing speed. Video high quality is Amazing, it's able to play full HD films by way of HDMI without a single hiccup.
