Gateway EC1803u 11.6-Inch Laptop (Black) On Sale with Free Shipping, Reviews I received my Gateway 1803u laptop a few weeks ago. It had 32-bit Windows Vista House Premium operating system installed. Because I already purchased a 64-bit Windows 7 Expert upgrade disc, I installed it on the Gateway after making back-up discs for the 32-bit Vista drivers. The 64-bit upgrade went smoothly.
I'm more than pleased using the Gateway EC18. Prior to I got this, I spent a lot of time searching for a netbook to use in my classes, and for browsing the internet. Using the Gateway EC18 and also the Core Solo processor I can do that and a lot much more in much less time. The 11.6" screen is short sufficient for portability and big sufficient so that you do not have to strive to view internet pages or videos. Battery life is more than I could anticipate, with WIFI enabled surfing the web, viewing youtube videos and chatting in live messenger I get much more than 2 and a half hours. With dimmed screen light, WIFI off, listening to music and using spreadsheets I get nearly 6 hours.
I bought this computer to be much more mobile in my travels. I usually felt that the netbook was too little, slow and basic for me. This turned out to be just the correct size in terms of the screen, the hard drive and the speed of the processor. It is a bit slower (11.two in., not ten.3) than a regular-sized notebook, but it does every thing else just fine. The bettery life is fantastic, more than 6 hours and the size is great for traveling. I'm not sure if this is classified as a notebook or a netbook, I've seen it in each locations.
