Acer AspireRevo AR1600-U910H Black/White Desktop PC (Windows XP Home) On Sale with Free Shipping, Reviews I've only had one issue with this box because I got it, and that was that when I was using it with a flat panel that I wasn't certain it was compatible with, I couldn't inform by looking at the box that the power was on. I think that was simply because the power button does not look like the sort of power button that lights up when the energy is on. Of course once the energy IS on, you are able to inform. I could also object to the quantity of preloaded software, but I am utilizing it with XBMC Linux so it does not matter.

This PC works just fine correct out of the box. Things I particularly like, additionally to the low cost, are the low power consumption and quiet operation. It appears to be a fairly decent piece of hardware for the intended purpose. The issues that bother me are marketing/packaging problems: there is a load of trial crapware to delete and no actual documentation, only fundamental setup instructions. Even Acer's website documentation is just hype and fundamental setup.

Much more annoyingly, no recovery disk is included! Each and every PC ought to consist of one of these, unless you're planning to discard it if the OS or HDD eventually turn out to be compromised. If you want a devoted recovery disc, Including 1 within the first place would only have price Acer pennies, and forcing clients to order one is an insult, so I don't understand their thinking here.

I bought this little computer to replace my Sony VAIO which is several years old. I've two left more than monitors so this system is ideal. I use the Acer to connect in to work via an RSVPN connection. The Acer is quite fast, a lot faster than my old Sony VAIO. I also loaded Open Office on it to do some home spreadsheets, Christmas labels, other stuff. This program is perfect for my use. It is sufficiently powerful, totally quiet, totally efficient. My only extremely minor gripe was that it was loaded with trial-software and games that I had to spend about an hour operating via and deleting.
